Fall Open House:
2008
Our
fall open house is great fun for the whole family. This year (2008) it will
be held on Sunday, October 19th from 11 a.m. till 3 p.m. We offer
activities for all ages including a hay ride, pumpkins, sheep & alpaca
viewing,
scavenger hunt, kite
flying (b.y.o.k.), cookie painting and of course the
12th Annual Apple Pie
Contest.

Hop on the
back of the wagon for a tractor hayride around the farm to the back field
with stops to see the compost pile and to feed the cows.
 Sign
up to be a judge in the apple pie
contest. Its a tough job, but
somebody has to do it. Of course we have apples for snacks and for
sale, as well as plenty of fall mums, corn stalks and pumpkins on
display.

Spring Open House:
Our spring open house will
be held on Sunday, May 23rd, 2004 from 11am until 3 p.m. Stop by
anytime for a look at our "back forty". We grow our
spring bedding plants and containers in 12 greenhouses located down the
driveway from the farmstand. These are not visible from the road,
and we always hear someone exclaim as they walk past the tractor sheds and
look out into the fields "I didn't know this was all back
here!".
Spend your afternoon
browsing through our production greenhouses full of unique annuals and
hanging baskets. Ask us your gardening questions, suggest new plants
you would like to see us grow, stop and smell the roses.
 Guided
tours will commence at noon and on the hour thereafter. We will
discuss our growing methods, our use of organic practices in our IPM
program, what we do about pests and diseases, how we water all those
plants, and much more.
Hope to see you
there.

Summer Open House:
 The
Spring Ledge summer open house will be on Tuesday July 15th, 2008 from
5:30-7 p.m. Our tour for the summer open
house includes loads of information on vegetable gardening as our fields
are just filling out with the first crops of the season.

Learn how we
grow rows upon rows of peas, start early baby potatoes, use mulch and drip
tubes and how we manage to weed all those acres. We show off our
tractors and implements, including our cultivating equipment, roto-tillers,
plows, discs and harrows.
Our
tomato greenhouses will be another featured attraction. There is
always a flurry of questions about how to grow the best tomatoes in your
own home garden. We try to provide some helpful hints about tomato
culture and show off some of our own plants and fruit.

The
ornamental greenhouses are still full with bedding plants, mums and
hangers. The cut flower garden will be planted and the corn maze
will be taking shape.
Refreshments
usually include juices, cheeses, our own fresh tomatoes and basil and the
first of the radishes. If we have a very warm spring, there may even
be a fresh strawberry or two for the tasting.
